Those who covet merely the symbols of rebellion
are rarely the cause of any revolution.
Mind what you say in public.
For while you're certain you deliver only treasures
all ships carry rats.
Fight, always, your own mythology of yourself.
Most of it is false.
And while some of it will be true,
you will only know those parts
by how they defeat you in battle,
and not by how they lord over you in servitude.
A loser hates most to lose.
A winner hates most to hate.
Solutions to problems arise through a disciplined, often repetitive choice
to dismissal your own opinion.
Over and over if we must,
putting aside our precious, prized and certain opinion
and instead favoring in our minds clear, unedited observations of things.
When we put aside "how we want the things to be"
and instead study closely "how the things are,"
it is then that solutions we seek will have the space in the mind to grow.
Creation doesn't always demand sacrifice and change
of what we hold most precious.
But creation does always require
our complete, unwavering, unprejudiced willingness
to sacrifice and change all that we hold most precious.
Racism is a terrible shark
but bigotry is the water.
It's not just fish that we should fear
but rather the vast oceans we heedlessly create
through which they can so easily swim close.
You are truly ready for a contest not when you feel confident that you know what you will do to win, but rather when you are confident that you know what you will do with losing.
